The Fair Maiden, Calina Part 10

INT. GUTHRAN’S LIVING ROOM.

Calina stands listlessly in front of a mirror while mutant women hem her white wedding gown. There is a knock on the door, so Guthran hobbles out of the room to answer. Someone has delivered a royally sealed letter. He opens it, already annoyed.

GUTHRAN:

(mumbles)

If you do not return what is

rightfully ours, an army will

be raised and…

He sees that Calina is watching him curiously through the mirror.

GUTHRAN:

It’s nothing! They’re always

accusing us of stealing from

them. It angers me so!

He crumbles up the letter and throws into the fireplace.  Calina watches it burn as he leaves the house.

INT. KNIGHT MEETING ROOM. NIGHT.

Prince Liam is in armor and arms some knights. King Braham enters with Queen Erycine, both in armor.

PRINCE LIAM:

We’re almost ready. We just need

to find a way to enter without a

fuss. In order to get to the wedding

and get Calina, we need as many of

our men and women to get inside

the grounds. Surely, he will have

an army waiting.

QUEEN ERYCINE:

I’ve got an idea.

INT. CHURCH LOBBY.

Calina stands alone in a dark room with her wedding gown on and a bouquet of ugly flowers. Tears fall down her cheeks, but she does not move.

CALINA:

I was almost hoping someone

would rescue me. What a fool

I was for having hope!

She sees Guthran’s dagger and picks it up. She is tempted to hold the dagger to her wrists, but instead she puts the knife in her garter belt. A faint light enters the room, and she knows it is her cue to enter the wedding hall.

INT. CEREMONY ROOM.

B.G.-the walls are made of the same dirt as all of the other structures. Dilapidated pews line the aisle, decked with some gaudy decorations. The guests are dressed in their nicest, though they also carry swords. The small stage has a judge, who almost resembles death. Guthran is waiting on the stage. Calina walks down the aisle slowly as organ music is played. She does not meet the harsh eyes of the audience. Suddenly, the door bursts open, and everything stops. Calina turns around to see…
