The Fair Maiden, Calina Part 11

INT. CEREMONY ROOM.

Calina turns around to see DUKE FERRIN (a man in his late forties with short, salt and pepper hair, olive skin, and strong cheek bones). Duke Ferrin looks solemn. Guthran is pleased to see him.

GUTHRAN:

Welcome, Duke Ferrin! Please, you

and your men have a seat and

enjoy the wedding.

DUKE FERRIN:

Eighteen years ago, I said I

wish there to be peace between

our world and the Underworld.

Guthran looks proud.

DUKE FERRIN:

I think you are under the dellusion

that I would somehow make your

people more powerful. My loyalty

is to the crown.

Guthran’s face falls.

GUTHRAN:

So, all this time-

DUKE FERRIN:

Since you have not returned

the princess-

GUTHRAN:

No! It is too late! Calina and

I are to be wed!

CALINA:

I’m the missing princess?

DUKE FERRIN:

Since you will not return Princess

Calina to her rightful place, you

are committing treason! Surrender

or prepare for battle.

The wedding attendees get up and pull out their swords. Guthran rushes to the door with his sword, and Calina gets out of the way. The knights pour in, and the battle ensues. Calina ducks, sees a fallen sword, and goes to pick it up. Patricia tries to kill Calina, but Queen Erycine pushes her out of the way.

QUEEN ERYCINE:

Stay away from my baby,

you bitch!

Queen Erycine battles with Patricia. Calina picks up the sword and defends herself. She sees King Braham battling Tenton.

KING BRAHAM:

Where is she? Where is my

daughter? Huh? You bastards?

While she does battle, Calina tries to find Prince William and is unable to. This makes her angry and she fights harder.

INT. CEREMONY ROOM.

The battle has gotten to the point where a few dead or injured knights lay on the ground, but there are more dead and injured mutants. Calina is concentrating on staying alive. After she slays one demonic man, she sees Prince Liam battling Guthran. She watches him and her parents fighting while she herself fights. At one point, Calina’s heart drops as Prince Liam drops his sword. Calina runs to help him, but Guthran stabs her in the chest. The room stops and watches her fall. Her parents angrily run over to kill Guthran while Prince Liam lies on the ground threatened by Guthran’s sword.

GUTHRAN:

Go ahead, kill me! It won’t bring

Calina back! I win! You swine

are done! But I’m not finished yet!

Guthran goes to stab Prince Liam. King Braham and Queen Erycine are still trying to make their way over to him to help. Prince Liam thinks he is done for when suddenly Guthran goes rigid. Guthran turns around to see Calina has a dagger covered in blood. Guthran takes a few steps towards her and collapses. His blood spills everywhere, and he moves no more. Calina is overcome with a mixture of emotions. Her hysterical cry is silent as she almost collapses to the ground. King Braham and Queen Erycine catch her. She clutches to them as she cries. Her parents hug her tight. After a moment, Queen Erycine sees all the blood on her chest.

QUEEN ERYCINE:

There’s blood!

CALINA:

It’s not mine.

They give her some space as she reaches into her dress and pulls out Prince Liam’s book, which has a sword-shaped hole in the center. Prince stands before them in disbelief.

CALINA:

I wanted you to be close to my

heart. You were my light in

the dark!

They run to each other and passionately kiss. King Braham is beaming with pride while Queen Erycine cries tears of joy. In the background, Duke Ferrin is rounding up the last of the mutants to be taken to the dungeon. The remaining knights look at the scene with pride.

INT. SITTING ROOM. NIGHT. FIVE YEARS LATER.

A party is in full swing throughout the castle. A PAINTER (an older man with good energy) finds Calina (who now wears an all pink gown with a tiara) talking to Prince Liam, Queen Erycine, and King Braham.

PAINTER:

Up for another painting session

this week, your majesty?

CALINA:

Well, I could sit still for hours, but

I don’t think my baby can!

She turns to him, revealing her pregnancy.

PAINTER:

Wow! Congratulations!

PRINCE LIAM:

Thank you!

PAINTER:

It is amazing that the king and queen

had such trouble conceiving a

child, and yet in five years, you

two have three children!

(to Prince Liam)

Nice job!

CALINA:

Very nice job!

KING BRAHAM:

Ah, I didn’t need to hear that!

King Braham leaves. Queen Erycine smiles but follows her husband. The painter leaves as well. Prince Liam holds Calina in his arms.

PRINCE LIAM:

Happy birthday, my princess!

CALINA:

Thank you, my wonderful husband!

They kiss. Right behind them is a painting of Prince Liam and Calina on their wedding day.
