Amouraq, Part 8

EXT. NYMPH GATHERING. DUSK.

Stephen and Emily are starting to get tired. Stephen notices that the sun is setting.

STEPHEN:
It’s almost sunset. We
might have to deal with
creatures in the dark.

EMILY:
Not the complete dark.
(points to the sky)
Luminious minimus!

A faint light like that of a nightlight glows around them.

EMILY:
I don’t think this will
get us noticed.

STEPHEN:
Look, the sun’s about to
go down.

As the sun disappears, they stand and watch it. Once it is dark, they can see a faint red glow in the distance.

STEPHEN:
Someone else is here. You
think it might be Xavier?

EMILY:
Let’s find out.

They cautiously creep closer and closer to the glow. When they get close enough to see the scene but not be heard, they see that the glow is a magical fire. Five fairy-looking women (NYMPHS) wearing sexy Roman clothing with varying colors are sitting around the fire. They all look haughty and impatient, as if they have been waiting there for a long time.

EMILY:
(whispers)
Nymphs. They are the
spirit of things that
exist in nature

STEPHEN:
(also whispers)
Are there evil nymphs?

ALL NYMPHS:
Yes!

The nymphs fly without wings over to where they are and encircle them. They are all about ten feet tall. They simply point at Emily and Stephen, and the pair gets tied to a couple of tall trees. The nymphs all introduce themselves not as a friendly gesture but more of a measure of intimidation.

NYMPH OF HATE:
I am the Nymph of Hate!

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
I am the Nymph of Abuse.

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
I am the Nymph of Destruction.

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
I am the Nymph of Torture!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
I am the Nymph of Murder!

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
Too bad Emily’s knowledge
and Stephen’s dumb luck
won’t save them now! The
only ones who can kill
nymphs are other nymphs.

The nymphs all laugh.

NYMPH OF MURDER:
Any last words?

Stephen racks his brain and quickly thinks of a plan.

STEPHEN:
You’re right; you’ve got
us beat. A victory like this
should only be performed by the
most powerful one. Tell me,
which one of you is that?

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
That’s easy! I am!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
You wish! Murder is the most
evil thing that exists, easily!

NYMPH OF HATE:
And what is the inspiration
of murder? Hate. I am the
most powerful.

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
No, the most powerful one
is responsible for the
cruelest deaths, and that
would be me.

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
Actually, torture is much
crueler than abuse, so I’m
the most-

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
What are you talking about?
Torture and abuse are practically
the same thing.

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
You’re just jealous because
you’re the least powerful.
Ooh, you knock down buildings!
So what!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
Nothing is worse than death!

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
That’s not true!

NYMPH OF MURDER: NYMPH OF TORTURE:

I think the whole Everyone knows there
point of evil is are things much more
to bring good to its powerful than death!
end, and I do that! Death can be a release.

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION: NYMPH OF ABUSE:
I don’t care what you Don’t you talk to me
say, you’re nothing but like that! No, don’t
talk! even start!

NYMPH OF HATE:
You’re all a bunch of dumb
bitches! The Queen of Evil
put me in charge!

NYMPH OF ABUSE: NYMPH OF MURDER:
What did you call me? She put me in charge!

They all become so outraged at each other that they conjure up a giant ball of light and throw it at each other. All of the nymphs are instantly destroyed! Stephen and Emily fall down to the ground, though not as hard as before.

EMILY:
How did you know that
would work?

STEPHEN:
The minds of the corrupt are
easily manipulated. Besides,
you never really know if
something’s gonna work, so
you’ve got to trust your
instincts. Plus, you’ve got
to remember that evil shows
no loyalty and is driven by
greed.
(beat)
Does that mean I destroyed
these evil things from the
world?

EMILY:
No, they are born again
in the heart of evil
doers.

STEPHEN:
So, technically they can
never die and can come
back to life?

EMILY:
Hmm, perhaps one day
evil will be erased
from the earth, but yes,
they can come back, but
not while we’re here.
Let’s keep going.

STEPHEN:
Yeah, I don’t think we have
much time left.
