Amouraq, Part 11

XAVIER:
What the-? I didn’t do
that! What’s going on?

The only door in and out of the room is vaporized by flames in a single second. A giant nymph (who is dressed in red and black, has long red hair with matching eyes, and wearing an angry expression) enters the room. She is the NYMPH QUEEN of evil, and her appearance makes Xavier nervous.

NYMPH QUEEN:
I, the Nymph Queen of Evil,
am royally pissed!

XAVIER:
Is this about the nymphs
that you lent me?

NYMPH QUEEN:
What do you think, you moron!
You promised me that all my
nymphs would return to me
unharmed!

XAVIER:
Well, I, uh, I didn’t know
that they would destroy
themselves! I mean, who
could’ve anticipated that?
And, and I never thought
that the stupid cose over
there could possibly-

She throws a fireball at him, but he ducks and it misses him. The room becomes dark and stormy, and the Nymph Queen becomes demon-like. Stephen doesn’t know what to think, and Xavier is scared witless because the Nymph Queen is as furious as possible.

NYMPH QUEEN:
You lost me my five most
powerful nymphs! You shall
pay with your blood and bones!

The Nymph Queen conjures a ball of light and is about to throw it at Xavier, but he makes himself disappear! The Nymph Queen looks less evil but still seems angry.

NYMPH QUEEN:
Noooo! No! No! No! Now I can’t
kill him, and I have no idea
where he is! It would’ve been
perfect; it would’ve been
sweet! Oh well, at least you’re
safe.

STEPHEN:
Me? You wanted to protect
me? The one who destroyed
your nymphs? What’s going
on here?

The nymph queen cleverly smiles at him. She snaps both of her fingers, and a cloud of smoke surrounds her while a clap of thunder sounds. When the smoke clears, in the queen’s position is Emily!

STEPHEN:
(jaw dropped)
Emily?

EMILY:
(smiling broadly)
Sorry I was so late. When
I rolled to escape the
warlocks, I bumped into one
of them, and he dropped my
magic book! I grabbed the
book and wordlessly turned
myself invisible. Yes, it
is possible to do that.
When the warlocks left the
room, I quickly looked
through the magic book and
found a spell that would
change me into whoever I
wanted. I thought for a
second and got the nymph
idea. I heard your cries
and came up to help as
quickly as the Nymph Queen’s
legs could take me!

STEPHEN:
(in awe of the brilliance of it)
You have totally perfected
this rescuing thing!

Emily grins at his praise. He weakly tries to get up, so Emily swishes her hand at him, which makes him get up quicker.

STEPHEN:
Well, we didn’t get Xavier
but we can take you to King
Patrick. You can be queen
now!

EMILY:
Wow, queen. I always knew
I was an heir, but I never
thought…Well, how could I
think I would with so many
heirs in front of me?
(beat)
I don’t think I’m ready for
this!

STEPHEN:
(steps towards her)
Trust me, you’re ready for
this, and you’re going to
make a great leader!

Emily flings her arms around him in a tight hug. Stephen hugs her back. After a moment, they feel awkward and let go.

EMILY:
Thank you!

STEPHEN:
My job’s not done yet, not
until we get Xavier. Speaking
of the devil, let’s get out
of this house immediately!

EMILY:
Yeah, I’m with ya.

EXT. THE SWIFT. NIGHT.

The king’s castle (named the Swift), which is made of a light grey stone but is warm and inviting, rests on a grassy knoll. A couple of KNIGHTS (who wear armor with the symbol of Amouraq on their chest) stand guard outside the heavy oak doors. They see Emily and Stephen coming from a distance, but they can’t tell who is coming yet.

KNIGHT 1:
Look! Coming out of that
forest! Who are they?

KNIGHT 2:
The girl looks kind of
familiar. Wait, why haven’t
I noticed that forest before?

KNIGHT 1:
Maybe you should see a
doctor.

KNIGHT 2:
No, seriously, have you
seen it before?

KNIGHT 1:
Actually, no I haven’t. I
don’t know why I didn’t
notice a large forest right
next to the place I work.
Maybe I should see a doctor.

KNIGHT 2:
No, the Swift is located at
the edge of Amouraq Isle. So
why would these two people
emerge from the forest that
never existed?

KNIGHT 1:
Wait a minute! Didn’t the
story behind King Alexander
say that after Alexander’s
victory against the Ryder
family, the Ryder family
sealed the forest until
their family chose to release
it?

KNIGHT 2:
You think that could be the
forest?

EMILY:
(shouts)
It is!

KNIGHT 2:
Emily? You’re not dead!

EMILY:
Did you think I was?

KNIGHT 1:
Well, yes, the news said
that your plane went down.
So, Xavier was in there?

STEPHEN:
Yes, mystery solved. Xavier
killed the other heirs and
had a brilliant idea of
hiding in a forest that no
one could find. He didn’t
lock it up again before he
got away. Don’t worry, we’ll
catch him. Emily and I got
through this, and now she’s
ready to take her place as
queen!

KNIGHT 2:
This is great news! King
Patrick is on his deathbed
as we speak, one of your
servants will show you up.

EMILY:
Servants?

STEPHEN:
Yes, people who serve you,
the queen of Amouraq.
(to the knights)
She’s not used to being
rich and powerful yet.

The two knights chuckle as Stephen and Emily enter the castle.

KNIGHT 1:
So, because this forest has
been magically sealed from
the rest of the world for
centuries, if a tree fell in
it, would it make a sound?

The second knight rolls his eyes.

INT. KING PATRICK’S CHAMBERS. NIGHT.

Stephen and Emily were brought to the king’s chambers by SIRIUS, a middle-aged Italian chef of the castle. The chambers was a room with a canopy bed draped in scarlet with matching curtains. There was also a painting of King Alexander, the king himself, and a map of Amouraq on the wall. All of the castle servants working that night huddled around his bed. When Stephen and Emily entered the room, CHOLANDA(a portly, African-Amouraqian maid) notices them in the door.

CHOLANDA:
Oh good! Stephen and Emily
are here! The king was
hoping to speak to you
before he passed.

Cholanda takes Stephen’s hand, who takes Emily’s hand, and brings them to the king’s bedside. KING PATRICK, despite his weak state, looks to be a strong but kind person. He must have anticipated this moment, for he is wearing an old fashioned kingly garb. When he sees Emily and Stephen’s appearance, he smiles warmly.

KING PATRICK:
Oh, thank the God in Heaven that
Amouraq will be okay! Emily, our
future queen, is ready to take my
place. Oh, and you must be the
secret agent I hired to keep her
safe. Amouraq is in great debt to
you.

STEPHEN:
Thank you, your highness, it
was a pleasure and honor
serving you, but my job isn’t
done yet, and believe me, I’ll
serve Emily with the same
integrity and conviction.

KING PATRICK:
As I foresaw that you would. I
want to say a few words to you
before I die. Emily, when you
take the throne, please rule
with kindness and valor. Keep
Amouraq the sparkling and
solid country that she is.

EMILY:
(near tears)
I promise I’ll do the best
I can to uphold the morals
of our past and keep our
future secure. I love Amouraq
and I will try to be a good
queen.

KING PATRICK:
You will be a great queen.
Don’t ever lose confidence
in that great heart of yours.
Valid though your fears may
be, and though you may sometimes
be taken by ill chance, I am
confident that your courage and
love will get your through all
of your worries and woes.
(to Stephen)
Stephen Knight, I thank you
for your courage to face
what you have never known,
and I praise your fortitude
for staying to finish your
job. I’m glad you’ll be here
to watch over Emily when I’m
gone. Don’t let her fall into
Xavier’s hands.

STEPHEN:
Upon my honor, I promise
that I will protect her.

KING PATRICK:
(smiling weakly)
You’re both such brave and
passionate souls. I wish
that I could live long
enough to see the two of
yours’ wedding.

STEPHEN:
Wedding? What?

KING PATRICK:
I can tell I don’t have much
longer here on Earth, so I
just want to leave telling
how much I love Amouraq and
all of you. My your loyalty
never waiver, and may you
serve Amouraq to guide her
to a future of success and
prosperity. Hard times may
come, but remember that as
long as you remain true to
yourself and the strength of
your heart, you can overcome
any obstacle. I will watch
over you always. Good-bye!

He makes a noise like a plunger and dies right there. Most of the people in the room are crying, and the rest are very solemn. Cholanda bursts into tears, and Sirius pats her on the back while trying to fight back tears of his own. Some of the servants can’t stand to be in the room anymore and run out crying. Emily has tears dripping down her cheeks, so Stephen gives her a hug. Some clergymen come in to move his body to the church, and everyone watched them leave in tears. They take a moment to remember King Patrick. After an appropriate amount of time, Emily speaks.

EMILY:
You may stay or leave, as
your wish. I just need a
room to be made for me.

SIRIUS:
We’ll see to at once, your
highness.

EMILY:
You don’t need to call
me that, just call me
Emily.

SIRIUS:
As you wish.

He, Cholanda, and most of the other servants leave. WAYNE (an energetic young servant) stayed to clean King Patrick’s room for the last time. He sees Emily standing there not knowing what to do and speaks to her.

WAYNE:
The funeral for King
Patrick is tomorrow, and
he wanted your coronation
ceremony to follow
immediately afterwards.
We’ve had it all ready for
several weeks now because
he knew it was coming.

EMILY:
Thank you, uh…

WAYNE:
Wayne.

EMILY:
Yes, thank you.

She unintentionally gets lost in the paintings on the wall. Stephen goes up to Wayne as he cleans.

STEPHEN:
Hey, was King Patrick
actually psychic?

WAYNE:
Yeah, he was always
surprisingly accurate.

Wayne watches Stephen raise his eyebrows in thought.

WAYNE:
Why?

STEPHEN:
No reason.

Stephen goes up to Emily and gives her a hug.

INT. AMOURAQ CHURCH. MIDDAY.

Amouraq’s biggest cathedral is located in the capital, Beaucoeur. It is made of an old, slightly jagged slate and is decorated in beautiful stained glass windows and gorgeous flowers. The pews are made of an old wood, and there is a red carpet lining the center to the platform, where there is a sermon podium along with King Patrick’s coffin. A large audience and some cameramen watch King Patrick’s funeral. Everyone is wearing black except for Emily (who’s wearing a lavish white dress) and the clergymen, who are also wearing white. After King Patrick’s body was laid to rest, Emily’s coronation ceremony (led by the CARDINAL) begins.

CARDINAL:
Emily Rebecca Pageman, will
you please join me on this
platform?

Emily rises and solidly walks over to the platform. She stands next to the cardinal.

CARDINAL:
Emily stands where King
Alexander and all of his
descendants have stood and
have taken an oath to the
throne. Emily, are you ready
to take this oath today?

EMILY:
I am.

CARDINAL:
Please kneel.

Emily kneels before him. The cardinal takes a bejeweled sword and points it on her right shoulder.

CARDINAL:
Do you promise to rule with
courage, love, and honor as
the Lord commanded?

EMILY:
I do.

The cardinal moves the sword to her left shoulder.

CARDINAL:
And do you promise to do
your best to bring about
peace and goodwill to the
world with your position,
as the Lord commanded.

EMILY:
I do.

The cardinal moves the sword back to her right shoulder.

CARDINAL:
Finally, do you, Emily,
promise to serve the people
with justice and never sway
your loyalty as the Lord
commanded?

EMILY:
I do.

CARDINAL:
Please rise, Emily.

Emily stands up facing him. The cardinal hands Emily the sword.

CARDINAL:
Now please face the people
you are about to serve.

Emily faces the people seated in the church. She sees Amelia dripping in tears, the servants looking proud, and Stephen with a mixture of both. The cardinal brings a golden crown with red velvet and green jewels. He steps onto a small step above Emily and holds the crown over her head.

CARDINAL:
With this vow, Emily is
now ready to rule with the
values of the Lord that
will enable her to be the
strongest, wisest, and most
kind leader in her power. I
now place this crown on your
head and proclaim to the
world that you are now
officially and legally leader
of Amouraq in the eyes of God
and your humble servants who
bear witness to this today.
Congregation, please kneel
before your queen.

Everyone attending got out of their seats and kneeled down.

CARDINAL:
Long live Queen Emily!

CONGREGATION:
Long live Queen Emily!

The crowd applauded, and Emily wiped away some tears.

CARDINAL:
(can’t help but add)
And may I say happy eighteenth
birthday!

CONGREGATION:
Here, here!

Emily chuckles as her friends and family go over to greet her.

EXT. UNKNOWN DARK ROOM. MIDDAY

Xavier has been watching this scene on a television in a completely dark room where the only lights were the television and a small candle. After watching Emily hug her grandmother and Stephen, he angrily turns off the television.

XAVIER:
That should’ve been me!

He is now completely shrouded in darkness save for the single candle, giving him an eerie glow.

XAVIER:
You think you’re safe and
secure now that you’ve gone
through your coronation
ceremony? Well, I’ve got
news for you and your cose,
sweet cheeks, you have no
idea who I have working for
me, and if I were you, I’d
watch my steps from now on.
Actually, if I were you, I
would just slit my throat
right now. You’re not gonna
like what I have planned.
All I need to do is figure
out how to communicate with
my servant.

He laughs wickedly and blows out his single candle.

INT. SWIFT BALLROOM. AFTERNOON.

A party is going on in the Swift ballroom in honor of Emily’s coronation/birthday. Though people are still mourning King Patrick’s death, they are also celebrating life going on with their new queen. Emily had been talking with Amelia, but she sees Stephen coming over with a package for her and goes over to him to receive it.

STEPHEN:
Happy birthday! Here, I
got you a present.

EMILY:
Aw, you didn’t have to
do anything! You’ve
already done so much!

Emily opens the package to see a necklace with a silver dragon encircling a golden heart.

EMILY:
Wow, it’s beautiful! The
symbol of Amouraq…What a
perfect day to get it!
Thank you!

She gives Stephen a quick hug in thanks.

EMILY:
Why are you giving this
to me now? Are you
leaving so soon?

STEPHEN:
I’m coming back. I’ve got
a job to do. I’ve just got
to go sign some papers with
the bride of Frankenstein.

He sees Emily giving him a confused look.

STEPHEN:
My boss, Pamela.

EMILY:
Oh.
(laughs)
So you’re going to abandon
me for a few hours so you
can go to Washington and
sign some papers?
(grins as in a joke)

STEPHEN:
How am I supposed to get
to Washington? You know
my plane went down!

They both grin.

STEPHEN:
I’ve just got to go receive
a fax, fill out some papers,
and send them back. It shouldn’t
take more than an hour. Besides,
as long as Xavier lives, I’ll
be here to protect you. I would
never abandon such an important
mission.
(beat)
Oh, I’ve been meaning to ask you
something I’ve been curious about…
How did you get those bimbos and
those warlocks to just disappear
like that?

EMILY:
Oh. I sent them to the
Valley of the Shadows.
There’s a spell where the
castor can send people of
his or her choosing to a
realm where people are
tortured for eternity.

STEPHEN:
Woah! I wonder why Xavier
doesn’t do that.

EMILY:
He’d rather torture them
himself.

STEPHEN:
Right, that makes sense.
Well, I’d better get
going. Talk to you later,
your highness!

EMILY:
I told you not to call
me that! I’m still Emily
to you!

STEPHEN:
Ha, ha, right! ‘Bye Emily.

EMILY:
‘Bye, Stephen.

Emily returns to her grandmother and shows her the necklace as Stephen starts to leave the party. He watches Emily, noticing that during this whole ordeal, he had forgotten how pretty she is.

STEPHEN:
(whispers)
I won’t let anything happen
to you, I promise!

As he exits, Emily watches him and smiles.

Amouraq, Part 10

INT. WARLOCK’S LAIR. EVENING.

Stephen and Emily land on their stomachs in a small, completely white room. When they sit up, they find themselves surrounded by ten angry WARLOCKS in brown, hooded robes, including the head warlock, ORAGOC.

EMILY:
(without thinking)
Warlocks!

ORAGOC:
Seize them!

They lunge for them, but Stephen and Emily roll out of their grasp (though they roll in opposite directions). Most of the warlocks were after Stephen, and while they try to grab him, Stephen pulls out his gun. Oragoc melts the gun with his wand. Stephen tries to move his legs and finds that he can’t. As the warlocks grab him, Stephen desperately looks around for Emily but can’t find her. He shouts as they tie him up.

STEPHEN:
Emily! Emily! Emily!

He gets no response, and as they drag him out of the room, Stephen worries for her safety.

INT. XAVIER’S OFFICE. EVENING

The room looks like a normal office. It has mahogany walls with filing cabinets lined against it. It also has a dark brown desk with a computer, several papers, and even a green potted plant. A sleek leather chair is turned around. The warlocks drag Stephen in and shove him in front of the desk. His expression is defiant.

ORAGOC:
The cose is here, Master.

The chair sharply turns around to reveal XAVIER (a handsome man around Stephen’s age with slick, jet black hair, hollow brown eyes, a crisp black suit, and a charming but mischievous smile on his face.)

STEPHEN:
Xavier Ryder!

XAVIER:
My, my, aren’t we clever?
Oragoc, fetch me my ladies.

Oragoc and a couple other warlocks leave the room and return a second later with a group of scantily dressed women.

STEPHEN:
Do you really need your
whores around to watch
this?

XAVIER:
I’m keeping them with me
for their protection since
that bitch could be anywhere.

STEPHEN:
Emily got away!

XAVIER:
Yes, but don’t get too
excited, Mister Knight. She’s
a foolish little sorceress,
and we’ll find her.

STEPHEN:
I hope you didn’t set more
of your stupid booby traps!
I mean, if a simple cose
like me could outsmart them…

Xavier jabs his finger towards Stephen, who instantly feels a sharp pain in his stomach. He doesn’t want to give Xavier the satisfaction of hearing him cry out in pain, but he can’t help cringing a little. Xavier’s warlocks and bimbos laugh at him.

XAVIER:
Take off the ropes; he
can’t escape with you
blocking the only exit.

The warlocks do as they’re told. Stephen boldly stands up. Xavier swishes his fingers, and Stephen eerily floats in the air.

XAVIER:
How is it that a stupid
cose could help defeat
some of the most powerful
magical creatures on the
planet? How could you
escape and make it here
without even getting a
scar on your face? Why do
you do it? You could turn
your back now and escape
unscathed. This isn’t your
war. Go back to the United
States and don’t worry
about a thing; Amouraq will
be, ah, perfectly safe in
my hands.

STEPHEN:
Never! I will not ever turn
down a cry for help. Besides,
I couldn’t let an evil bastard
like you hurt an innocent
person or tear down an innocent
country! I’d rather die here
and now than collaborate with
you!

XAVIER:
Then so be it!

Xavier, quite livid, points his hand at Stephen. A bright cloud of green electricity surrounds Stephen, and he feels a pain so unbearable that he can’t help crying out intensely. After a minute or so of this pain, Xavier flings Stephen against the wall, and Stephen lands on his bottom on the floor. Stephen is too weak to stand up at the moment. Xavier turns to his bimbos smiling knowingly, and they smirk back. The warlocks softly chuckle.

XAVIER:
This is my favorite part;
this is the part where I
kill you. This is how you’re
going to die: you’ll-

STEPHEN:
(weak but brave)
I know! All of my organs and
bones will slowly and painfully
be turned into liquid until
there’s nothing left but a
pile of muck. Then you’ll
make sure that no one ever
finds my remains just like
you did with many of your other
victims that you felt like
hurting just for the hell of it.

XAVIER:
Ooh, Emily did her homework!
Well, too bad Emily won’t be
able to save your sorry ass
this time!

STEPHEN:
You’re sick!

XAVIER:
That’s nice.

STEPHEN:
At least I can die with
dignity!

XAVIER:
And so you shall! Any last
words?

STEPHEN:
You’ll never win, Xavier!

XAVIER:
Watch me!

Xavier raises his hand. There is a moment of anticipation from him, the bimbos, and the warlocks. Stephen doesn’t want to believe that this is the end but is preparing for it. Right when Xavier is about to execute his deadly spell, all of his warlocks and bimbos disappear into thin air! Stephen is confused, and Xavier is bewildered. A cloud of smoke emerges, and a figure emerges from the doorway…

Amouraq, Part 9

EXT. THE INFERNO CIRCLE. EARLY EVENING

At this point, Stephen and Emily are sore and exhausted. They haven’t eaten all day, and they are growing restless. They keep walking, but it is difficult.

EMILY:
Are we ever going to find
Xavier, or is he going to
keep hiding behind his
monsters?

STEPHEN:
We’ll find him eventually,
and we’ll keep knocking out
any traps that come in our
way.
(beat)
How big is this island
anyways?

EMILY:
I don’t remember, but
it wouldn’t help ‘cause
this part of the island
probably isn’t even on
the map.

STEPHEN:
How come no one’s ever
found it? I mean, people
have been looking for it
for centuries.

EMILY:
It’s magic. I think it
was some of Xavier’s
ancestors that sealed
this place.

STEPHEN:
Why?

EMILY:
It’s where Alexander made
his victory over…over…

Emily drops down to the floor but is still conscious. Stephen kneels down beside her, trying to help her back up.

STEPHEN:
Emily! Are you okay?

EMILY:
I’m just exhausted. I don’t
know how you can do this.

STEPHEN:
It’s painful, but I tread
on because I know there’s
something more important
than my complaints.

EMILY:
I know, for the good of
the nation.

STEPHEN:
Emily, you are the nation.

EMILY:
I’m not going to be queen;
I’m too weak. I’m not good
enough.

STEPHEN:
You are good enough! There’s
a strong heart pumping in
there. You’re tired, you’ve
been thrown down and beaten,
but you are still here, and
so am I. I’m not going to let
you give up. Well, I can’t
force you to do anything, but
if you can’t go on, I’m going
to find Xavier myself!

EMILY:
No! You’ll never make it
on your own!

Stephen gets up and starts to leave, so Emily gets up and grabs his arm.

EMILY:
You’re not going to die for
me!

STEPHEN:
I will if I have to.

EMILY:
You won’t have to. You’re
right. I can’t let Xavier
do that to you. Or Amouraq.
What was I thinking? I’m
glad King Patrick hired
you. We make a good team.

Suddenly they both become aware that Emily is still touching his arm. Before either of them can react, there is suddenly a huge updraft. The wind leads to a path behind them that turns into a trail of fire! They run as fast as they can, but the fire follows them. It gets so close that it could almost lick their shoes. They run into a circle of trees, and it almost feels like they’ve outrun it. Right then, the circle of trees turns into a circle of flames! Emily and Stephen back into the middle, and the fire creeps closer and closer to them.

STEPHEN:
There’s no way out!

EMILY:
You just convinced me to
never give up, so I’m
gonna keep going!

STEPHEN:
How? Are you gonna sprout
wings and fly?

EMILY:
No, we both are!

Emily waves her left hand over both of their heads and says her spell.

EMILY:
Bird!

They each change into a sparrow just as the inferno is about to touch them. They fly straight into the air, and when they feel like they’re about to change, they land on the ground. The flame is still chasing them. They keep on running, ignoring all of their pain. They were willing to run forever, and it certainly felt like that when suddenly the flame when out. They stand still for a moment, wondering if more flame would pop out of nowhere, but nothing is happening.

EMILY:
Why did it go out? I’m glad
but I’m very suspicious.

STEPHEN:
We must be close. I think
he put out the fire ‘cause
he didn’t wanna put himself
in…

In the distance, he spies an old, wooden two story house that had the aura of abandonment and an eerie wickedness.

STEPHEN:
That must be it! We found it!
Right when we thought…aw, we
don’t need to keep talking
about what just happened!
Let’s-

The light that Emily had conjured earlier goes out.

EMILY:
Oh, that doesn’t matter.
We’re almost there! Let’s
go get him for Amouraq!

STEPHEN:
Long live the queen!

They are feeling pumped up on adrenaline right now. They slap hands and cheer as if they were watching a football game, and they start running out of exhilaration this time. When they are right next to the house, it is so dark that they do not see the square hole and fall in!

Amouraq, Part 8

EXT. NYMPH GATHERING. DUSK.

Stephen and Emily are starting to get tired. Stephen notices that the sun is setting.

STEPHEN:
It’s almost sunset. We
might have to deal with
creatures in the dark.

EMILY:
Not the complete dark.
(points to the sky)
Luminious minimus!

A faint light like that of a nightlight glows around them.

EMILY:
I don’t think this will
get us noticed.

STEPHEN:
Look, the sun’s about to
go down.

As the sun disappears, they stand and watch it. Once it is dark, they can see a faint red glow in the distance.

STEPHEN:
Someone else is here. You
think it might be Xavier?

EMILY:
Let’s find out.

They cautiously creep closer and closer to the glow. When they get close enough to see the scene but not be heard, they see that the glow is a magical fire. Five fairy-looking women (NYMPHS) wearing sexy Roman clothing with varying colors are sitting around the fire. They all look haughty and impatient, as if they have been waiting there for a long time.

EMILY:
(whispers)
Nymphs. They are the
spirit of things that
exist in nature

STEPHEN:
(also whispers)
Are there evil nymphs?

ALL NYMPHS:
Yes!

The nymphs fly without wings over to where they are and encircle them. They are all about ten feet tall. They simply point at Emily and Stephen, and the pair gets tied to a couple of tall trees. The nymphs all introduce themselves not as a friendly gesture but more of a measure of intimidation.

NYMPH OF HATE:
I am the Nymph of Hate!

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
I am the Nymph of Abuse.

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
I am the Nymph of Destruction.

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
I am the Nymph of Torture!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
I am the Nymph of Murder!

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
Too bad Emily’s knowledge
and Stephen’s dumb luck
won’t save them now! The
only ones who can kill
nymphs are other nymphs.

The nymphs all laugh.

NYMPH OF MURDER:
Any last words?

Stephen racks his brain and quickly thinks of a plan.

STEPHEN:
You’re right; you’ve got
us beat. A victory like this
should only be performed by the
most powerful one. Tell me,
which one of you is that?

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
That’s easy! I am!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
You wish! Murder is the most
evil thing that exists, easily!

NYMPH OF HATE:
And what is the inspiration
of murder? Hate. I am the
most powerful.

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
No, the most powerful one
is responsible for the
cruelest deaths, and that
would be me.

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
Actually, torture is much
crueler than abuse, so I’m
the most-

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION:
What are you talking about?
Torture and abuse are practically
the same thing.

NYMPH OF ABUSE:
You’re just jealous because
you’re the least powerful.
Ooh, you knock down buildings!
So what!

NYMPH OF MURDER:
Nothing is worse than death!

NYMPH OF TORTURE:
That’s not true!

NYMPH OF MURDER: NYMPH OF TORTURE:

I think the whole Everyone knows there
point of evil is are things much more
to bring good to its powerful than death!
end, and I do that! Death can be a release.

NYMPH OF DESTRUCTION: NYMPH OF ABUSE:
I don’t care what you Don’t you talk to me
say, you’re nothing but like that! No, don’t
talk! even start!

NYMPH OF HATE:
You’re all a bunch of dumb
bitches! The Queen of Evil
put me in charge!

NYMPH OF ABUSE: NYMPH OF MURDER:
What did you call me? She put me in charge!

They all become so outraged at each other that they conjure up a giant ball of light and throw it at each other. All of the nymphs are instantly destroyed! Stephen and Emily fall down to the ground, though not as hard as before.

EMILY:
How did you know that
would work?

STEPHEN:
The minds of the corrupt are
easily manipulated. Besides,
you never really know if
something’s gonna work, so
you’ve got to trust your
instincts. Plus, you’ve got
to remember that evil shows
no loyalty and is driven by
greed.
(beat)
Does that mean I destroyed
these evil things from the
world?

EMILY:
No, they are born again
in the heart of evil
doers.

STEPHEN:
So, technically they can
never die and can come
back to life?

EMILY:
Hmm, perhaps one day
evil will be erased
from the earth, but yes,
they can come back, but
not while we’re here.
Let’s keep going.

STEPHEN:
Yeah, I don’t think we have
much time left.

Amouraq, Part 7

EXT. BLOODY RIVER. LATE AFTERNOON.

Stephen and Emily have become a little more confident about the situation. They come to the river and immediately halt, sensing that this river might have a trap in it.

STEPHEN:
Know any helpful spells?

EMILY:
Well, I could turn us
into temporary fish, but
I don’t think we should
go into the water at all.
I could make a bridge, but
I don’t remember how to do
that. I know there’s a way
to magically transport our
bodies from one side to
another. I’m trying to-

Before she can finish speaking, a giant hand formed by the water reaches out to get them! They try to run, but the giant hand snatches them. They try to escape, but the force of the water is too strong. The fist rises in the air and starts to fall.

EMILY:
(shouting over the noise)
What do we do?

STEPHEN:
Change us into a temporary
cloud!

EMILY:
What? Why?

STEPHEN:
Trust me!

Emily swishes her right hand above both of them.

EMILY:
Cloud.

They changed into fluffy cloud versions of themselves. Since clouds are just water vapor, the hand couldn’t grip them anymore. The hand lowered itself down as a small breeze carried them across the river.

EMILY:
(as a cloud)
Brilliant, Stephen! I
think we’re actually
gaining strength from
the vapor it’s emitting!

STEPHEN:
(as a cloud)
Actually, that might be
our downfall when we change
back into ourselves and fall.

EMILY:
(as a cloud)
I forgot about that!

They change back into their human selves and land on the ground on their bottoms with a thud.

STEPHEN:
See, I’m not perfect either.

EMILY:
I was too worried about
falling to conjure some
cushions.

STEPHEN:
If we were true clouds,
how come we could still
talk?

EMILY:
That’s just it, we weren’t
true clouds. Magic isn’t
always perfect.

They try to get up but their bottoms are too sore.

STEPHEN:
Boy, Xavier is a real
pain in the ass!

EMILY:
(laughs)
Oh okay, James Bond.

STEPHEN:
(laughs)
I’ve never been compared
to him before.

EMILY:
Really? Never?

STEPHEN:
As often as you got compared
to Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

They continue on their conversation as they leave the scene.

EXT. DRAGON’S LAIR. LATE AFTERNOON

They had time for a small conversation when they came to a giant, rocky cave whose contents are hidden by darkness. The two of them suddenly come back to reality and remember the dangers they are facing.

STEPHEN:
I know all too well from
fairy tales that a dragon
must live in there.

They see smoke billowing from the cave, and before they can decide whether or not to run away, the creature emerges. Not only is it a dragon, but it is a three headed dragon! Stephen shoots the dragon, but the bullet ricochets off of its scaly hide. It turns all three heads to him and ambles to him. Stephen picks up a long tree branch and wields it like a sword at its head. The branch doesn’t hurt the dragon but annoys and distracts it. Emily picks up a rock and throws it the dragon. The dragon turns its attention to her. Emily runs clockwise around it, and Stephen does the same in the opposite direction. The three heads don’t know what to focus on and become dizzy. Emily stops and points her clawed hand at it and says a spell.

EMILY:
Camio oss!

The dragon shrank into the size of a baseball. Stephen smiles as he steps on it to kill it.

STEPHEN:
I never thought I’d ever
kill a dragon! You’re
getting so much better at
this rescuing thing!

He looks at the bottom of his shoe and gets disgusted. Emily titters as he wipes it off on the grass.

Amouraq, Part 6

EXT. GARGOYLE’S LAIR. LATE AFTERNOON.

Stephen keeps his gun pointed out ahead of him and stays a step ahead of Emily for her protection as they continue. Both remain vigilant and ready to act if needed. The silence is unsettling. All of a sudden, the sound of flapping wings breaks the silence. Before they can figure out where the noise had come from, a creature that looks like a demented bat pounces on Stephen! He is pinned to the ground by the beast.

EMILY:
A gargoyle!

STEPHEN:
Help me! The claws are
digging into me like knives!

The gargoyle shifts on his back and roars like a dinosaur. It stares Emily, daring her to try something. Emily slashes her right hand at him and says a spell.

EMILY:
Slakirim!

The spell hits the gargoyle and has no effect. The gargoyle rises into the air with Stephen in its claws. It heads towards the darkness in the distance, but long before it gets there, Emily does a spell while waving her hands once over her head.

EMILY:
Luminious maximumus!

The gargoyle turns into stone. It falls to the ground landing on Stephen! Emily runs about ten feet to where he is.

EMILY:
(kneels next to him)
Oh please be okay!

STEPHEN:
I appreciate your efforts,
but now it’s crushing me.

EMILY:
Oh, um, right.
(points at the gargoyle)
Rupe!

The gargoyle breaks into hundreds of tiny pieces. Emily rushes over to brush the pieces off and helps Stephen up.

EMILY:
Oh, I’m so sorry! I panicked.
I remembered that gargoyles
hate direct sunlight. I didn’t
even think about the weight of
the statue and you. Oh man, I
really need to perfect this
rescuing thing, don’t I?

STEPHEN:
Don’t say that. You saved
my life. Even if what you
said is true, the important
thing is you got the job
done. Thank you so much!

EMILY:
It’s least I could do for
your service to Amouraq!

Emily notices that Stephen is still hunched over trying to catch his breath.

EMILY:
Need a minute?

STEPHEN:
Not unless you have a spell
to fix me.

Emily shakes her head, so Stephen gestures wordlessly that he needs a minute. Emily chuckles slightly.

EXT. COPIBOMB CORNER. LATE AFTERNOON.

They continue on their way cautiously. They hardly say a word to each other just incase. At the moment, they are wondering why they hadn’t run into anything yet when a nearby bush rustles near them! Stephen instinctively points his gun at the bush. A SECOND EMILY jumps out from that spot! Before anyone can react, there is a flash. The two Emily’s are standing next each other with a digital clock between them.

STEPHEN:
Seriously? This really happens?

SECOND EMILY:
This is a copibomb. You only
have thirty seconds to pick the
right one.

The clock begins counting down from thirty. Stephen panics for a minute but is suddenly struck with an idea.

STEPHEN:
Can you conjure me some
chocolate?

SECOND EMILY:
You can have all the chocolate
you want as soon as you choose!
Hurry or we’ll all blow up!

STEPHEN:
No problem!

Stephen shoots the second Emily. The clock disappears, and the real Emily is able to move again. Stephen now has the time to comprehend the bizarreness of the situation, and it is slightly disturbing to him to see Emily with a bullet in her chest from his own gun. Emily understands what he’s thinking and gives him a moment before she speaks.

EMILY:
Copibombs can mimic bodies
but not knowledge, which I’m
so surprised that you figured
out on your own in that short
amount of time!

STEPHEN:
Sometimes you just have to
act on a whim. I guess it
would’ve been easier if it
had copied me, wouldn’t it?

EMILY:
Yeah, we would just do
a simple identification
spell, so this weapon is
mainly used against coses.
I suppose Xavier planted
that there specifically
for you, but he didn’t know
that you have one of the
most important powers that
anyone could have.

STEPHEN:
I have a power? What is it?

EMILY:
Your intuition.

STEPHEN:
(laughs)
Oh darn. I was hoping for
an actual power.

Emily laughs too. Stephen sees the body of the fake Emily on the ground and frowns.

STEPHEN:
Why couldn’t they make
that disappear too?

EMILY:
Well, that body didn’t
disappear, but we can.
Let’s go.

Emily starts to walk away, but Stephen stands still for a second.

EMILY:
And by disappear, I mean
leave this spot.

STEPHEN:
Oh.
(laughs)
Can you make us literally
disappear?

EMILY:
Not without my book.

STEPHEN:
I bet your book could tell us
what lays ahead.

EMILY:
Somehow I don’t think any book
could prepare us for what’s out
there!

They continue their journey with trepidation.

Amouraq, Part 5

EXT. AMOURAQ BEACH. LATE AFTERNOON.

After quite a bit of swimming, Emily and Stephen come to a sandy beach. They collapse on there for a little while to recover from their exhaustion.

STEPHEN:
That pilot worked for
Xavier?

EMILY:
You knew him, if he was a
good man, then most likely
he was probably kidnapped.
One of Xavier’s assassins
tried to kill us.

Stephen sits up and brings out his cell phone while Emily searches through her bag. He figures out that his phone has sustained way too much water damage to work, so he chucks it into the ocean.

EMILY:
Stephen!

Stephen turns around to look at her.

EMILY:
My magic book is gone!

STEPHEN:
That’s not good. Why would
they take it?

EMILY:
Maybe there are spells in
there that they don’t know.
That was my father’s!
(tears well in her eyes)

Stephen touches her arm sympathetically.

STEPHEN:
Don’t worry, we’ll find it.
Whoever did this is probably
waiting for us somewhere. We
should figure out where we are.

They both get up and walk towards a nearby forest.

EMILY:
Here’s a sign!

Stephen walks over to where she is. There is an old, wooden sign that reads: Hidden Forest.

EMILY
Hidden forest?

STEPHEN:
Of course! This must be the
hidden part of Amouraq that
only King Alexander had ever
been to! We were heading
towards the island anyways, and
I’m sure if this was a part
that the government knew of,
there’d be some kind of
security, right?

EMILY:
You know, I think you’re
right.
(laughs)
That assassin tried to
prevent us from coming
here, but instead he led
us right to it! Welcome
to my country.

STEPHEN:
(laughs, then gestures to the forest)
Shall we?

EMILY:
Yeah, let’s go. King
Patrick is counting on us.

EXT. WHISPERING PINE GROVE. LATE AFTERNOON.

Stephen and Emily have been walking in the forest cautiously since they don’t know what to expect. Suddenly, they hear someone sobbing nearby. Stephen instinctively whips out his gun and points it at the direction of the noise, but he can’t find anyone. Emily and Stephen walk around the area where the sound is coming from, but they do not see anyone around except each other. Next to a pine tree, it gets so loud they feel like they are right next to it, but no one is around.

STEPHEN:
Alright, I give up. What’s
making that noise?

WHIPSERING PINE (O.S.):
I am!

They spin around looking for the body that the voice came from. It almost sounded like the tree was talking to them, but they silently reason that is not possible.

EMILY:
Is the tree talking?

WHISPERING PINE (O.S.):
Yes!

The face of the WHISPERING PINE now appears on the tree that almost looks a carving of a woman’s face, but it moves like a normal one.

STEPHEN:
Oh, I get it. A weeping willow.

WHISPERING PINE:
I’m a whispering pine you
knit-whit!
(sobs)
I apologize. I’m just being
a little short with you
because I’m quite scared.

STEPHEN:
Of Xavier Ryder?

WHISPERING PINE:
(nods)
He’s planted all kinds of
booby-traps incase you made
it this far.

EMILY:
Can you tell us what
kind of traps there are?

WHISPERING PINE:
(shakes head)
All I know is he’s trying to
kill you and take over Amouraq.
He’d tear down this forest if he
did. Where would all of the
magical creatures go?

EMILY:
They’re not going anywhere
‘cause we’re not gonna let
that happen!

WHISPERING PINE:
I fear for your safety.

Emily and Stephen look at each other searching for a response to that but find none.

EMILY:
Are you sure you can’t tell
us what kind of traps there
are?

WHISPERING PINE:
I’m kind of rooted to this spot.
Although, I did see one of Xavier’s
mistresses mending one of his
worker’s hands. Apparently he
handled some kind of monster. But
if one of those lug-heads can
handle it, it’s probably not
something very hard. It’d be wise
for you to go before the sun sets.
You might have more of a chance in
the light.

STEPHEN:
Right. Well, thank you. Let’s
go, Emily.

They leave the whispering pine there sobbing.
